From April of 2026, eBooks vendors are switching away from Adobe Digital Rights Management (DRM) to manage patrons' ability to download and use eBooks offline. eBooks encrypted with Adobe DRM need Adobe Digital Editions (ADE) to read them. However, this software isn't compatible with screen readers, which is required under major accessibility regulations, such as the European Accessibility Act (EAA) and the rule under the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) Title II.
EBSCO is switching to DRM encryption with Readium LCP and to the related Thorium Reader because they adhere to modern accessibility standards. Please click on this link to learn how to download EBSCO eBooks. A note to mobile users: There is no Thorium Reader app available yet. You can use FBReader or any Readium LCP compatible apps instead on your mobile device. Please save your passphrase. You'll need that to open the ebook on the mobile device.
Proquest is switching to its own eBook reader app - Ebook Central Reader App. Please use this guide to see how to download the App and the eBooks from Proquest Ebook Central.
All our Wiley eBooks are DRM free. You can download a PDF version and keep it on your device.
